Wait, who won?
Man, work got really busy heading into Election Day, and I’m just now coming up for air. Just catching up on news and it seems like it was all pretty straightforward, close election but Biden pulled it out, no drama…. No, but seriously, the whole thing sort of reminds me of when I lost my re-election bid for managing partner of the firm and I barricaded myself in the big office for a few weeks until I could come to terms with it, and left the whole place booby-trapped for my successor with a colony of fire ants I poured into one of the desk drawers and some ricin sprinkled in the file cabinet.
We don’t take losers’ feelings into account nearly enough after an election. They should totally get some kind of consolation prize, like picking an extra Supreme Court justice, or not having to pay taxes for a decade. Not that anyone pays taxes these days. Totally overrated. I can fight my own wars; I don’t need to pay for the government to do it for me.
Anyway, very excited to hear about the progress on the COVID vaccine and I look forward especially to the line being a lot shorter to get it since half the country is going to be dead by then.
Starting to plan already for our distanced Thanksgiving. At the firm we’re going to be sending every associate a turkey, a firm-logoed knife, and a link to a video with instructions on how to slaughter the bird safely. I think it’s a nice gesture, especially since we’re not giving them any days off and we’re now requiring the Zoom connection to be live 24/7 with no hiding the video. You can sleep, but we’re going to be watching. (Why aren’t more companies doing this?)
